I stopped by Shortfields for lunch. I was greeted promptly and seated outside on a beautiful afternoon. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was delivered with not much of a wait. The half & half tea had a great flavor. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and I had half left over for dinner. The staff was friendly and kept checking on me. Cute little restaurant in TR. Unfortunately the service and food were less than stellar. Although it was not crowded we had a very long wait for our orders to be taken and food prepared. I wish I could say the food was stellar to make up for the wait but it was definitely subpar. We ordered rib eyes ($38)! That were basically tasteless. It’s sad to ruin a nice steak. We love to try local places and recommend them but this isn’t one we will recommend at all. On a positive side though the people were very friendly! This place used to be awesome. What happened? I used to come here quite often for their burgers. I usually get my burger medium, but that was a little more pink than medium.I brought my daughter here and she got the soup of the day. Which was broccoli and cheddar. More like broccoli stew. Seriously it was milk butter and tiny bits of broccoli. However she was able to exchange it for the french onion. That was better. There’s a surcharge for using a debit/credit card. They don’t tell you how much the charge is, but I got you. It’s 3.5%. Our server was nice enough but gave off a weird energy. I won’t be back. Which is sad because I really liked this place. I came here with my friends to celebrate walking the Swamp Rabbit trail! I ordered a hamburger with pimiento cheese on it and I loved it. The French fries that i chose as my side were perfect and delicious. My friends ordered a Ruben and a pizza and they both enjoyed their dinners. I think I will come back to try their flatbread pizza since it looks so good. The atmosphere was really nice (outdoor seating) and there were plenty of chairs and tables for the outdoor area. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. I wish I remembered her name, but she was blonde. Overall really good food and rewarding experience!
