I had an awful experience at the ShopRite on Rt 37 in Toms River. After shopping I went past the 3 registers open at that time. I had a few more than 20 items in my basket, however I went to the self-checkout where there were 7 open registers. I was stopped by an employee, Sherry, who told me that I couldn't check out because it looked like I had more than 20 items. She was just enforcing a rule that she could not explain. I asked for the manager. During the time I was waiting two other shoppers with clearly more than 20 items started their check out. The Manager, Mr. Josephson (I believe), reiterated the rule, but eventually relented and allowed me to check out. He said to me, "You can go through now, but don't let it happen again" and he repeated his admonition as if I were a 5 year-old. Mr. Josephson then likened my wanting to check out my 30 items at a 20 item or less register to "running a red light" and getting away with it. By that time I was heated, I pointed out the other customers who were checking out 30+ items and he said some slip through. So, I wondered if the policy was applied selectively. Admittedly, I was very agitated and angered that others were permitted to check out with more than 20 items and I was singled out. I started shopping at ShopRite in 1965 in the ShopRite on River Road in New Milford, NJ. To be treated like this after almost 60 years of being a loyal ShopRite customer sickens me. When I suggested that Mr. Saker would have probably let me go through, Mr. Josephson disagreed. He said that Mr. Saker would apply the rule. So, Like every place else, the customer is disposable and has no importance because there are so many of us. That is much more than sad. So, Mr. Saker believes that the policy is far more important than the customer. Very sad indeed.
I was mistreated by the staff management and store . I was accused of stealing but they can’t even show me proof . Because I was not! $7-8 dollar items never scanned at the self checkout like I thought it did because it had froze as I scanned the item last and went to pay. I even needed help to get my money from the machine due to it freezing. So I walked out was chased down by staff member #310 and told I wasn’t in trouble and she needed to see my receipt after realizing the issue I apologized immediately and offered to go back and pay and fix it.as I thought I had. I was then brought into this closet office forced to give number 310 staff my personal information as she kept telling me and another person with me we weren’t in trouble. I kept offering to pay for the items as I wasn’t intentionally trying to steal anything. She then accused me of having stolen stuff before!!!! But no one has ever stopped me and said anything and I wasn’t ever stealing anything. She then made me sign a paper that I had no idea was a trespassing paper. And said to come back in a few days all should be fine. Well I was hunted down and told to get out after weeks of this happening!!! It wasn’t even $10 of stuff I immediately tried to fix it and make it right. To be accused of theft and treated like a criminal over a simple mistake is absurd and it needs to be dealt with and made right!!!!
I did order pickup for the 1st time. My husband and I have mobility issues. I was surprised that there was a $5 fee but worst was $2 fee for bags so total of $7 for the service. In addition you're requested to return bags but you don't get any credit towards next order. Order was packed well.
They have all sorts of real, precooked food for you to buy. I've never seen that much and that variety in any store. However, the place is always packed and the oddly designed parking lot is a death trap, so -1 star.

I would like to say Thank you to Colleen who does an excellent job serving the meals and side dishes back by the deli. She serves perfect portions and her customer service is delightful . You should have her train the other employees on cleanliness and food handling dos and don't. Colleen is the only one I will let serve us . I have a selfish allergy and one other girl dropped shrimp in the marsala sauce and picked it out with her fingers and served me the sauce .. I was so disgusted . I did inform management but a week later I seen the same employee put the serving spoons on the counter and back in the food .

My partner & I usually come here for a majority of our groceries & we've never really had issues until recently. We bought English muffins last week, only for them to be molded 2 days later when we hadn't even opened them. Two days ago we bought cherub tomatoes, opened the package & they're also infested with mold. In the store itself, when I went to go grab some iceberg lettuce, some had dead bugs in them, while others were disgustingly brown & well past wilted. I understand the bugs most likely came during packaging [I hope], but that doesn't explain why their items are molding so quickly without ever being opened.
Horrible customer service!! I have given this store, countless chances, and each time it’s worse and worse I understand it’s the holiday, but people learn some customer service. Give them the pickle! The owners should certainly do their demographics on product supply. People have doubled in this area if not more, and you’re still carrying the same supply that it was 10 years ago, ridiculous to have to go and shop multiple stores to get an item for the holidays. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Stopped by the floral department to pick up some flowers for our aunt who is in the hospital. The associate, Deanna, went above and beyond for us. We asked her to put the flowers into a vase and she took her time creating a beautiful arrangement. Thanks Deanna for the exceptional service!

For some background, I lived a number of years near Orlando, with plenty of options there to choose from… …but both my husband and I were blown away by the selection in this store! Seriously, a particular product that was casually on the shelf here is something I figured was discontinued by the company. It had been years since we bought it! If you’re into gluten free, dairy free, and more natural options, boy do they have a number of things to choose from! We didn’t purchase any hot foods, though there are a number of items to choose from there as well.
This store is BUSY CROWDED EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO!!! Whoever designed the floor must have been about 85lbs wet! The aisles are ridiculously SMALL. After a while, I don't even say excuse me anymore. It's REALLY a pain in the azz!!! Now, let's talk products...THEY HAVE EVERYTHING!!! From bread to seafood and EVERYTHING in between. My gosh they really have everything. It's HUGE with pre-made dinners, sandwiches, sushi, breakfast, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc...rows n rows n rows of deliciousness going on here! All fresh n made there...on top of your regular shopping isles of food. They have a Chinese store, fresh sushi, their bakery is CRAZY good, 2 different or maybe even 3 different counters to order steaks n meat at one n cold cuts n salad at another. Then...they have on the shopping cart a list of items n what isle to locate them...WOW The store really is impressive with "products" but it's ALWAYS stupid crazy busy n everyone's in a rush. Oooh the parking lot is packed. Maybe you'll be lucky and get close....I never do...
