We ate here in August and arrived right at opening and beat the tour buses that arrived shortly after us (after which the ambiance was ruined). Enjoyed a delicious, flavorful dinner with a magnificent view. Highly recommend! Lovely restaurant inside Hotell Geiranger. Food is excellent - we are vegetarian and had an excellent mushroom risotto with unusual mushrooms and delicious homemade icecream. Staff are great. I would say it was quite expensive but this is Norway and overall it was worth it. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person kr 600–700 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

La cuisine était assez bonne et les plats bien présentés. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas eu de chance avec le saumon... très grosse intoxication alimentaire. Meal type Dinner Price per person kr 400–500 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Restaurant Skageflå in Geiranger offers a dining experience with both strengths and opportunities worth noting. On the positive side, the restaurant boasts a breathtaking view of the Geiranger Fjord, making it a picturesque spot to enjoy a meal. The generous portion sizes and enthusiastic presentation of the dishes also deserve comment, ensuring that diners leave satisfied. However, it's important to consider the opportunities for improvement. The restaurant's dated furniture and decor (being not unlike an abandoned medieval tavern) might not appeal to those seeking a modern dining atmosphere. The simplicity of the food, while it may appeal to some, may leave food enthusiasts craving a more adventurous culinary experience. Additionally, the service displayed a hint of inexperience, which impacted the overall dining experience. In summary, Restaurant Skageflå in Geiranger offers a meal with a stunning backdrop and hearty portions but falls short in terms of ambiance, culinary innovation, and service expertise. It's a place to visit for the view and portions, but those seeking a more refined dining experience may need to look elsewhere. A Culinary Catastrophe: Skageflå's Gastronomic Misadventure If you're a fan of Gordon Ramsay's fiery outbursts, you'd have wished he were here at Skageflå in Geiranger. The lamb, oh the lamb, was drier than a desert mirage. Even Ramsay might have momentarily lost his voice from sheer disbelief! The presentation resembled something my cat regurgitated after a particularly dicey encounter with a hairball. One might say it was modern art – abstract, confusing, and utterly unappetizing. Move over, because this lamb was making a case for being the new epitome of dryness. It's a shame that it didn't come with a disclaimer: "Caution: Choking hazard – may require industrial-strength lubrication to swallow." Frankly, I believe the insulation material within my room's walls would have been a more delectable and moist choice. Let's discuss their pièce de résistance, the "Får Ytrefillet Fra Ole Ringdal." Served with local vegetables that should have been entered into a witness protection program, mushroom puree, and a red wine pepper sauce that seemed to be playing a cruel prank on the palate. I'm almost convinced Ole Ringdal must be rubbing his eyes in disbelief at this culinary travesty. But let's give credit where it's due – only a master of disaster could turn meat into a tragic comedy like this, and Ole is alive to witness it! The vegetables, oh those poor forgotten souls, tasted like the remnants of hope left in a hospice's ceiling. As for the "Norsk Laks," it might as well have been labeled "Norsk Supermarked Laks," as it seemed to have been fished straight out of the saddest supermarket freezer aisle. The quinoa, vegetables, and chimichurri were desperately trying to salvage the meal, but it was like putting lipstick on a pig – a doomed endeavor. Champagnesaus, more like champagneskuffelse (champagne disappointment), was an exercise in contrasting emotions – none of which were positive. Finding a needle in a haystack seemed more likely than finding a pleasant taste in that dish. In our many days in Norway, this culinary experience took home the crown for being the worst. The acoustics in the restaurant made me feel like I was dining in a bustling train station – except at the station, there's usually a promise of departure, while here, I couldn't wait to escape. So, dear adventurous souls, take heed. Do not tread into Skageflå unless you have a secret passion for exploring the abyss of dining disasters. This restaurant is like a black hole where good taste meets its doom, and where laughter might be the only way to survive the ordeal. A resounding zero out of five stars – because if I could give them negative stars, I would. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person kr 300–400 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
I had a very beautifull dinner here, after i came they seated me next to the window with gorgeous view on the Geiranger fjord. I ordered 3 course menu, fish soap starter, the fish soap was delicious it was creamy, tasty and fancy plated. As a main i had scallops with rizoto, the taste was amazing. For the last course i had coconut moose, with passion fruit gel and mint it was brilliant. I recommend everyone to try this restaurant. The food for that price is amazing. In the end the headchef was so nice, he visited me at the table and asked me if everything is allright. 😙 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
