Great dine-in experience. Matching food and drinks, wine still amendable to the food. Hotel and rooms getting old here, that's fair to mention...but the food and restaurant experience is still very nice! Please stop by here
I have eaten at Restaurant Elyssee a few times and I have to admit that it is first of all a great experience as they have an awesome wine cellar. This combined with Coravin, gives you access to try lots of great wine by the glass when you are having your dinner.
Incredible food and wine experience. My wife and I had one of the best restaurant experiences of our lives yesterday at Elysèe in Park Hotel Vossevangen. We were lucky enough to be hosted by sommelier Robert Rosales Johansen all evening and his pairings was spectacular. Their new menu is just about a week old and our three-course set menu was precoursed with an amuse-bouche consisting of a peeled cherry tomato and chevre. very tasty and went perfect with my Sancerre Domaine Vacheron.
(I should mention that we chose the wine celler package priced at NOK 950,- per person which you should choose as well :))
I won't go through all the details of our meal, but the most highlighted between the consistent highlights was a deconstructed "plukkfisk" consisting of perfectly prepared clipfish, a reduced bechamel with nutmeg, some al dente vegetables and a sauce that gave the dish the correct amount of acidity. Wonderful with the previously mentioned Sancerre.
I also have to mention that the wine package included such wines as a 2007 burgundy grand cru that almost brought tears to my eyes, some exciting rieslings, a white burgundy with a nose to die for and an incredibly complex sweet champagne.
Elysèe uses a teqnique that allows them to pour a glass of wine without opening the bottle and hence have one of the most extensive wine charts by glass.
That the restaurant is beatifully located with views to Vossevangen and the green mountains with a bit of snow on the tops just adds to the experience.

Exquisite menu, excellent service and and incredible wine list. Restaurant has an impressive fine wine cellar. Staff is very accommodating. Highly recommend this place!

The meat dish was very good- tasty sauce and nicely grilled meat. But the seafood dishes were average or a bit strange. I could see that their chefs were really trying to make 'new' fancy taste, but it seemed that did work out well.... (they weren't awful, but missmatched marriage I felt)
But the service was great and I had an enjoyable dinner there. I agree that this place is the no.1 restaurant in Voss!

We ordered a buffet and there was barely no food and the one that they had was cold and hard like a rock and overall awful. The one thing I can say is that the staff was really nice and did their job really well
If you are interested in wine then this is the place! The Elysee restaurant serves classic cuisine. Go for the 6 course meal with wine package! The wines are very exciting and they have no less than three sommelier! Norway's AND the world's best wine cellar in 2020 says something. Here you will find hidden treasures at a very affordable price. The food is not what they focus on but it is good and well thought out. The beef fillet is fatty and tender from local meat. The halibut I ate with capers and dehydrated olives was very good. The wine look the dish up with the fit well. Here you are taken care of! I will always stop by when I'm in Voss. The hotel is old and venerable with a nice bar and a lovely old worn little 60's look at times with low leather chairs, carpeted floors and funky lamps. The rooms are tired but do the job. Beautiful view from my room towards the water and mountains.
The lunch buffet was more than I anticipated. We had just arrived in Voss and Norway, and I had in my mind that I wanted to try all the local methods of cooking salmon and shrimp. To my surprise, this buffet included them all! Very healthy options available, accompanied by a wonderful salad buffet. Just don't expect much for desert. All options tasted the same, but in different colors!
We got a very nice table by the window and enjoyed a wonderful lunch.
