Spanakopita was one of my favorite dishes at the Rainbow diner. Spanakopita is a delicious savory Greek pie made of perfectly crispy layers of phyllo dough and a comforting filling of spinach and feta cheese. This was not the case today. It was underwhelming at best . I told the waiter it tastes off tonight. He didn't seem to care. I been a customer for over 25 years spending my hard earned money never again. I am as loyal as they come. The Mgr at the cash register didn't care either. Dissapointed with the response is so dissapointing. The crab stuffed mushrooms have no crab, just sealegs ( cod fish). also the mashed potatoes are from a powder flake box. new jersey diners require fresh potatoes. service was good but other times we had servers who spoke little English and were on their phones constantly, poor service.

We have gone to Rainbow Diner at least three times a month for several years, ordering pretty much the same thing. My usual was taken off the menu. I asked could I have my usual order, I'm willing to pay the extra $$ upcharge. The manager told us NO, absolutely not! I simply cannot believe how they would treat a long time regular customer! My recommendation is go to Toms River Diner on Rte 37. Their prices are *much* cheaper, the food is excellent and the employees are very friendly and accommodating. Ive been coming here since I was a kid. I've moved to the west so I haven't been here in a while. It has remained just as great as I remembered! Fantastic fast service. Our waitress was so attentive knowing just what we needed before we even asked! The food selections were incredibly vast...like always, and portions huge. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! We had the Turkey Club, the Boss Burger (complete with generous slices of Taylor Ham) and a salad. Way too much food...we could have very easily shared but, our eyes were bigger than our stomach!! I have always recommended this wonderful diner, and STILL DO!! You will not be disappointed! Figured I would try eating there since I haven't been in awhile. Place is clean Service was friendly Food My western omelet was okay home fries great rye toast rubbery Friends pancakes had a weird taste Didn't even eat them. I do like that they did give you butter in a side cup and the syrup was in a pourable container. Last diner we ate at had those little side packages for butter and syrup like McDonalds. I recently had dinner at the rainbow dinner and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of seasoning. For our main course, I ordered the stuffed shrimp with mushrooms and my family ordered the chicken parmesan. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was cooked to perfection and the clams were fresh and flavorful. The chicken parmesan was crispy and the sauce was rich and tangy. We also ordered a kids meal, which our server recommended and it paired perfectly with our meal. The coffee never stopped flowing which was the perfect ending to our meal. The portion size was generous and the flavors were rich and creamy. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal with great service. I don't remember really waiting that long for food. Usually I'll look around thinking where or when it's coming but was happily surprised with how quickly it came out. I have been coming here for 38 years never had a bad meal. Ordered their broiled sea scallops done to perfection. Tried for the first time the chicken croquettes with mashed potatoes and giblet gravy. The table next to me ordered cheese blitzens so I just had to order some for myself for dessert with a scoop of ice cream. Rainbow Diner is the best of the best with honors.
