The service was great. The food was okay. I got the gumbo, which needed a darker roux, because it was beige and lacked some depth. The lobster roll didn't taste like lobster. The buttery roll was perfection, but the lobster salad could have been a seafood salad from the grocery store and I wouldn't have known the difference. The creamed spinach was good once I added salt and pepper. It's a cozy bar atmosphere, and I'd probably go with a burger and fries on a second visit. A co-worker recommended Poor Phil's because I was looking for Cajun/New Orleans style cooking. She recently had enjoyed the Gumbo there. So I made my way out to Oak Park to check it out. I ordered Jambalaya (to go). Servings were ample and delicious. While I waited for dinner to go, I ordered a glass (carafe) of red wine, which hit the spot with with the $2 happy hour BBQ Shrimp . Not the big fat shrimp I'm used to in New Orleans but enjoyed it all, although next time I would ask for more horseradish on the side for the dip. Popular spot for locals. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu too! Huge draft and bottle menu of local Chicago beer. Huge wine and cocktail menu also! I'll be back to try something else soon. Oh, and the cocktails are good and strong! 🥂🥗🍔🍹🍺✨ Service Dine in Meal type Lunch

Iconic Chicago atmosphere - such a cool place. We had fish and chips and the pickle burger and they were both awesome. They have a huge beer selection, as well as a ton of specialty drinks. Quick service, indoor and outdoor dining, great customer service, and refreshing beer on tap!! My lobster roll was amazing, the red beans and rice were a bit spicy for me but not terrible.
