The brunch is phenomenal. The cheese grits are special, the quiche like butter, hand breaded and fried chicken tenderloin. French toast, pancakes biscuits fruit, and Lord Lord Lord the avocado toast. Came on a busy night. Seated 20 minutes after our reservation time which was fine. Service was good. Savannah was busy but attentive and pleasant. The $16 calamari was all breading with very, very thinly sliced calamari. The texture was chip-like, very dry, and salty. Peppers were also promised with the dish. There was not a pepper on the plate. The $43 ribeye was very poor quality and about 40% gristle and fat. The mac and cheese was incredibly salty. The cheese was not completely melted and almost chalky in texture. The loaded mashed potatoes were fair. The $25.5 gumbo plate was decent but very small. There were exactly 6 shrimp as promised on the menu. The amount of sausage was about the size of an average pinky finger. The amount of chicken? Imperceptible. The profit margin on $25.5 for 1/4 cup of rice, broth, 6 shrimp and 3 inches of sausage must be high. Why do I specify the prices? Because they are way too high for the amount of food, quality of the ingredients and cooking. The amount they are charging when it appears they are trying to cut corners with everything from the quality of the meat to the thickness of the lemon slice for the calamari to specifying the exact number of shrimp per gumbo dish is almost laughable. This may seem harsh but it is the truth of our experience and potential customers should be aware given how hard folks work for their money and how little free time we all get. Finally, I got to try The Pond, and let me tell you, I'm disappointed in myself for not getting in here sooner. They do take reservations, which are recommended. We didn't have one but only waited 30 minutes, which I didn't think was bad considering we got there around 6:30 pm on a Saturday. The atmosphere and aesthetic of the place are amazing. During our visit, there was a saxophone player who played a little of everything and kept everyone entertained. Our server was excellent, and the service was great. I had the Calamari for an appetizer, and it was good, but could have used a little more seasoning in the breading. My NY strip steak, however, was absolutely fantastic. It was perfectly cooked (medium), and the mushroom sauce was great. My wife had the Bourbon Salmon, and it was amazing. Now I will say that the food was expensive, but you get what you pay for: great food (from scratch as I was told) and great service. I would definitely recommend trying out The Pond but be prepared to spend a little, which I think is worth it. Everything was absolutely amazing. The food was so good, we placed orders to go. OMG!! I will definitely be coming back. We sat outside by the pond. It was beautiful. Lots of seating areas. Very comfortable. Our server was prompt and attentive. Not a long waiting period for your food or drinks. They get 👍🏽👍🏽!!
