Our server was amazing. When we came in, another patron was giving our server a bad time. And yet when she reached our table, she was smiling and calm. We got such a warm and wonderful vibe. I ordered the Crab Benedict. Not a cheap dish. Nice crab. Decent hollandaise. One egg hard cooked, the other so runny it could have been over easy. But the hash browns were just ... Horrible. I tried two bites (in case the first wasn't a fair representation.) Sadly, the second bite was even worse. Old cold pasty potatoes and grease. I made a face and my wife thought I was being dramatic. Until she tried her own hash browns. And made a similar face. To be fair, my wife said her steak and egg were okay. And honestly the sourdough toast she ordered was one of the best things we got. We didn't want our server to suffer hearing again how bad the food was so she cleared my barely touched plate, we thanked her and tipped her well. After all, it's not her fault the food wasn't good. But if that's how food came out after a previous customer's (noisy) complaint, that kitchen staff either didn't listen, didn't care or both. Should we have complained? Yeah. I know that we should've. Given them the chance to fix it? But we were on our first getaway in a couple of years, headed to the aquarium and we didn't want to start our morning by complaining. Either way, I dropped $50 + tip on breakfast for two and the Pig N Pancake became a running joke for the rest of the weekend. We decided to stop in for lunch. We were quickly seated, which was nice. However, once we saw the menu options and prices, we quickly left. The average price was around $20 per person. The kids' meal price was more of what a regular lunch item should be priced. If we had stayed to eat there, our bill would have easily been $150, just for lunch. My partner and I both have had longtime traditions where we eat at Pig 'N Pancake every time we'd gone to the coast with our families, and Friday was our first time doing so together during a trip to the coast. We were closest to the Newport location, which was conveniently placed downtown in the old City Hall center, making it rather large and interesting. The interior had a cute little gift shop, where the two of us bought shirts to show our love for this restaurant. The place definitely has an old-fashioned family diner feeling, and has a lot of breakfast and lunch specials to offer for great prices. Comfort food at its best. We would highly recommend the pancakes and the waffles, both with the special marionberry syrup, though there's so much to choose from in the menu and it is hard to go wrong with anything. Service was fast and friendly. You can be that we will plan to come back, and we will be talking about this place whenever we get the chance (as well as showing our love with the shirts). Excellent breakfast! Home made chicken fried steak. Gravy was tasty, although it is served under the steak. I prefer it smothered in Gravy. Not sure why they do this. Pancakes were fluffy and tasty. Bacon was thick and good! Eggs were cooked as I ordered. Vikki spells her name like my wife and was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was nice and clean. Well kept. We will be back. The dependable and consistent place for a good American breakfast on the Oregon Coast. I have been here a few times between 2021 and 2023, and the quality is consistent. I was not entirely happy about the service this time, but it was not bad at all. Unlimited coffee refills are awesome! Pig 'n Pancake is my new breakfast favorite. They fed my family of 7 in record time and everyone loved it. We split an amazing cinnamon roll, and while the younger kids and I had pancakes, eggs benedict, French toast, and biscuits and gravy, and a skillet, my wife and oldest enjoyed very good clam chowder and halibut fish and chips.
