We’ve tried all the various dog bars nearby. This one is fun. Most of the staff is friendly, & you can tell they love the dogs. I’m not exactly sure what the issue is, but the bathroom here smells absolutely horrendous. When I have to pee, I opt to hold it or leave, instead of having to enter the bathroom. More than once, there have been people come in off the street, without dogs, & ask me & others if they can have the food we’ve brought in. For that reason, I’m not comfortable eating there, which is frustrating. I also wish the water bowls were changed more often. It’s not unusual for there to be >20 dogs present, & the few water dishes they have quickly turn into puddles of slobber. Often my dog will make her way to one of the water bowls, but decide it best to not drink the contents. I end up getting her a cup of the water from the human water cooler, bc I can’t find any way for me to refill the water bowls with fresh water. Free parking spaces are very limited, & we usually have to pay to park in the lot next door. If it’s raining, there is little to no covered space for the dogs to run around in. Other local dog bars offer large covered areas for the dogs to romp in, even if it’s yucky outside. We will return to PJ’s, because it is conveniently located, & usually very fun, but it does leave much to be desired, in my opinion.

Friendly staff. Solid beer menu. Both indoor (heated and cooled) and outdoor play area with tons of staff watching over the dogs. My wife and I brought our two frenchies while they were doing Santa photos. We had a blast. They even allowed us to watch our favorite college football game with sound. We can’t wait to go back.

First visit to this place When I got there, I was a little quite confused because there was a line to get in. You must be 21+ and above to enter. It was hard to know which door to enter because if you are the first time visit this place, you will need to sign the contract/waiver even though you don't have or own a dog. It is part of the agreement if something happens to you. The reason I was confused was because a lady was standing in front of the door with the contracts. That's why I was confused. But I enter the main area of where you can sign the paper, etc. It was short and quick. Then I enter with caution because the dogs are free to roam. Then I just look around a little bit because I was a little overwhelmed with everything going on with dogs running around, etc. I wasn't sure of how things worked. But then I went to get something to drink. I got the coffee whiskey slushie which I enjoy a lot. Then I look for a seat. You can pretty much sit anywhere and watch the dogs playing. Sometimes you will get the dog to approach you to ask for a pet but always let your hand out to let them smell you before petting. But for the majority of the time, they will just play and run around. It was quite a neat experience. I will come back for more!

Such a cool and welcoming place! As a non pet owner we ADORED being able to come in and play with all the friendly doggos and meet their hoomans! From the "barktenders" to the "bark rangers" everyone was extremely friendly. They even had Gluten free hard ciders on dedicated taps to include those with allergies/celiac disease! We only meant to spend an hour or two as a visit, ended up spending closer to 7 hours there! Loved that they had trivia that evening. Super fun!

Sadly we are done with our visits here. I have had multiple experiences with one particular staff ‘bark ranger’ being incredibly rude. First I watched him get angry with a dog for coming after the mulch sweeper. It’s a dog, they’re going to be curious. Luckily it was not my baby because I probably would have lost my mind. Then the last time we visited my youngest was playing with up some of the others, she enjoys being chased and tries to get everyone to play along. She is incredibly active and hyper- and I’m ALWAYS watching to ensure she’s not going to hard or running too fast to hurt herself or anyone else. Their was one ranger who helped pet her to get her to relax when she was on a hard case of the Zoomies, but the other one who I have watched time and time again be so hateful towards other dogs grabbed her and told me to put her on a leash (I have absolutely no problem with that, but if you were paying attention you could have attempted to spray her or pet her or literally anything if you had a knowledge of dogs). I did already speak with staff about the issue. Just a fair warning to others. Also had an issue a month ago with one of my dogs getting diarrhea a couple days after visiting, and then just now recently the other one with the same. Vet chalked it up to a GI bug and it’s just not worth a $600 vet trip each time after going nor the stress or anxiety of feeling like the employee doesn’t even like the type of place he’s working at.
This was my pup’s first outing with other dogs besides her training class. She had a blast, made a best friend, got lots of love from everyone, and went straight to bed when she got home. I had wine and a beer. prices were fair. I love that you can bring in your own food. We will visit again.

It's honestly hard to beat the experience. I don't even drink, I just go to insure every dog understands they are good dogs.

Best idea ever!!! Most fun experience in Louisville, you can get a good beer while watch dozens of dogs play and run around... nice place and friendly people and dogs!
One of my absolute favorite places in Louisville. My husband and I drive almost 2 hours one way to bring our boys.
