This place is a legitimate Italian restaurant, or so it appears. I don't have much to complain about, and normally I don't, but I have a couple of small gripes with my experience. I'd first like to say that the service and the atmosphere were stupendous! The menu selection was also fantastic aside from the little box that said if you're going to share a plate, it's $7 extra a person.... weird math. The arincini, chicken french, chicken parm (aside from the sauce, mostly referring to the cutlet itself) were spot on! My two biggest gripes are as follows... 1. The tomato sauce was that of which comes straight out of the Hunts can that simply says SAUCE on the front. Being raised in the Utica area and having family still there today, this is unacceptable. Perlos must have a good reason to serve this quality of sauce, but it's still awful. 2. The meatballs, while good in flavor, had an over-processed texture. Like all ingredients had been run through a blender. 3. Wasn't overly impressed with the baked lasagna, but it might be the sauces fault. Don't get me wrong, I fully intend to return to Perlo's. Their menu and service were exceptional, and there is much more that I would like to try.
