Everyone is always so friendly here. The food is excellent and not over priced like most Bbq joints. The sausage is a true example of old fashioned Texas/Lockhart Bbq. The brisket has a good bark and is seasoned just right. The ribs are tender and you can taste the black pepper. Just like it should be. I definitely plan on making Maxwell Barbecue Co a weekly stop.

Had a great first experience. We ordered a bit of everything. The meats were great. Well seasoned. Sausage flavor took me back to my youth. Pinto beans were very flavorful. Will definitely go back.

I came to Austin/Lockhart from Baltimore solely to complete my BBQ pilgrimage. I've been to Oklahoma, the Carolinas, all the big BBQ places. I think I've found the best rib. The man puts so much love into his ribs. The smoke was just right, the seasoning was on point, and the crust was literally perfect. We were already full from other BBQ and I wolfed down every bit I got and considered getting more before my wife stopped me. The brisket was also great, but good god those ribs are what I can't stop thinking about. They were incredibly nice and hospitable. The vibe inside just screams Texas BBQ.
We're here for one more day so I'm gonna try a few more places, but I might just end up back here for more ribs.
Thanks for having us and awesome work!!!

Beautiful hidden Jewel. If you enjoy S-Tier brisket with killer burnt ends and tender sausage with a good snap, you need to stop here ASAP. And they won’t even break your bank which is beautiful for barbecue now-a days.

Less than 10 minutes from the Texas Barbecue Mecca of Lockhart sits a family owned old school style joint cranking out some of the best sausage in the area. Believe it or not, this sausage rivals the likes of Smitty’s & Chisholm Trail while being outright tastier than Black’s & Kreuz. Yes, it’s in a small town, yes, it’s about 10 minutes from the main barbecue drag, BUT, no barbecue crawl of Lockhart should exclude Maxwell’s (MBC), the short drive is worth it.
Oh yes, as good as the sausage is, including the signature HOT ROD style, which is spicy without using jalapeños, do not leave without handmade banana pudding, succulent ribs, and fall apart brisket. We will be back, and this time with friends in tow!
