I went to this place twice in the past few months after not going for years. The food is OK, but it is usually someone else who suggests we go here and I go along since that's what they want. The chips and salsa are not free and are not really worth paying for. I ordered the Fajita Taco Plate lunch special. It was OK and the service was pretty good. I was with a group, so the waitress was kept very busy but she made it work. It was a nice atmosphere for the most part. I had a house margarita and it was not bad. I will still go here if someone else suggests it, but probably won't go any other way. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

We used to come here regularly and were never disappointed. Well, that’s changed. First negative was when we were told chips and salsa aren’t included with meal! What! I’ve never been to ANY Mexican restaurant that charged for chips. The server had a very uppity attitude. The food was barely edible and not served hot, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy when we were there (about 1:30 pm on a weekday). They are way overpriced !!! I’m so disappointed because they have a lovely patio to enjoy an outdoor meal on. We will definitely not return. There are tons of great Mexican restaurants in SA so we don’t need to waste money at this place. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
This is a nice sit down spot, it is a large room and it can get a little loud, it has outdoor seating with mature oak trees. I've only eaten here for breakfast several times so can't speak on their dinner menu, but the food is good Service Dine in Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I initially ordered the shrimp fajitas which had a decent price point, but the server suggested a mixed platter with beef, and I ended up deciding on the beef and shrimp because it sounded good. I want to let potential future patrons know to make sure you observe the fine print on the mixed fajita platter on the menu that I believe was 2699. In my case I was charged $40.99 (!!!) Why? It appeared on my bill that I ordered the beef fajitas and then 8 shrimp were added in which there was an UPCHARGE for each shrimp. I adjust assumed that I was getting a mix of equal portions of the beef and shrimp and then I would be paying 2699. The server didn’t ask if I wanted. What maybe a shrimp? I agreed but once again, I was hoping it was just a proportionality thing for the mixed platter. I was too embarrassed to say something to our server because he was kind of us. I did feel kind of taken advantage of in a way because how my mixed platter came out how I was charged, would be to the advantage for the server for a bigger tip. I was not happy about this in the end . I wish I was let to know I was not getting a true mixed platter, but he beef fajita along with eight additional added shrimp. In terms of how my fajitas came out, I was disappointed because they were probably 30% overcooked and NOT very tender. The only partial saving grace that I can speak positively about was that the taste profile was decent. We went to Mamacita’s yesterday in San Antonio, and in contrast at Mamacita’s I had the best beef fajitas I have had anywhere up this time! Mamacitas had the most tender, marinated, and seasoned beef I have ever had; and the onions and mixed peppers were superior by leaps and bounds, compared to La Hacienda. The beef fajitas at La Hacienda needed to be cooked less, possibly marinated for far longer, and possibly have an even better cut of meat. The green peppers and onions were not cooked very well, lacked flavor, and the peppers were too crunchy. The beans and rice were average. Overall, my beef fajita dinner was a grand disappointment, and I can only give it a 2 out of five stars because the beef still had good flavor. The shrimp were not very flavorful, average-sized (large) and a big disappointment also , especially on the 12 to 13 dollars extra added to my bill. La Hacienda does have a nice atmosphere. A family of 5 of us spent $205 after tip and we spent less than half of that last night and enjoyed our dinner far more.
I visited last Wednesday with two friends that I hadn’t seen in decades 😱. Our food was so delicious and well presented. I had chicken enchiladas and my friends both had beef taco plates. We started with mango margaritas and queso which went down a treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our reunion and the tasty food. The music was canceled due to rain but we will return.
