Meh. Dont be fooled by how "pretty" they look on the outside..The sweet potato one with regular glaze didn't taste like sweet potato at all. Rather bland and waaay overpriced at $5.50.

First of all, don’t expect to get a regular donut. I first ordered the classic glaze, and I must say that it was very disappointing. The donut was very thick. It was only glazed lightly on half. It tasted like baked potato bread. I decided to go back and ask for a replacement to try one of their other donuts, their customer service was great, they were very friendly, understanding, so they gave me a chocolate old fashion to try.
The chocolate old fashion was tasty, and I enjoyed it, but it was very different from any other donut I’ve ever had. I think if I came in with my expectations being to try a fried dessert that was in the shape of a donut, I would’ve enjoyed it more. But because my expectations were to eat donuts, I was disappointed. I’ve eaten thousands of donuts at dozens of donut shops around the country, and this donut shop was very unusual. If you decide to try this place, make sure that you are not expecting your donut to taste like any donut that you’ve had before and keep an open mind about this type of dessert. I’m giving it four stars because the customer service was so great, they listened to my complaint, and happily provided a replacement for no charge.
Had a chocolate with mixed sprinkles donut this morning. It was so good. It's like stacking 2 donuts on top of each other. The top donut has the chocolate frosting and the sprinkles and the bottom one is stuck to the top one. That's the type of thickness that I can explain to anyone.
So good and I highly recommend this place.
To say that this is the best doughnut in the world may be a stretch, or is it? Absolutely without a doubt the best doughnut I've ever eaten. The dough itself was light and airy, not sweet. The glaze added the perfect amount of sweetness. I ate the entire thing (they are LARGE) and didn't go into sugar shock or food coma which tends to happen with overly sweet and processed foods. I sincerely can't wait to go back and eat more!
JD in Larkspur is such a treat! The doughnuts are dense and top quality! The location is similar to a drive-in which adds to the character of the shop!
The staff were very welcoming, in addition to the fantastic menu items! My favorite Crodough does have a surprise in the middle in the form of custard filling.
Coffee and espresso beverages are just ok, but there's a coffee chain a few steps away.
I'm also glad they spell "doughnuts" correctly lol

Yay! Got a doughnut cake for my son's birthday party! It was tasty and looked beautiful on the table.
frosting got hard and fell off in pieces when we cut it. So I recommend it stay covered if not eating right away.

Have you ever had a doughnut and you can’t stop thinking about it for days, weeks, months, later?!?
🙋♀️
Johnny Doughnut did that to me
There are three locations Rafael, San Francisco, and the one we visited in Larkspur.
When you step up to the window you’re faced with the dilemma of “which do I get and do I just get one?” We couldn’t just get one… over the three of us we got like 7 😅 whoops
My favorite and the one I’ve had dreams about since is the crodough, basically their version of the cronut but they can’t use that name cus of rules or whatever. It’s crunchy and coated in sugar and connoisseur on the outside, soft and layered on the inside, AND filled with little pillars of custard. OH. MY. GOSH!
Other favorites we tried and attempted to share were the apple fritter, the old fashion, and a few flavors of the Bismark (filled with wild berry jam or chocolate vanilla cream…. 🤤🤤🤤)
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention they have a vegan donut and a wheat-free donut! I overheard someone say you can even get the custard filling in a cup if for some reason you are confused and want it without the delicious crodough.
Don’t forget to add your favorite beverage on the side.
I love that this local business pulls supplies from other local businesses including @centralmilling @clover.sonoma @msp_petaluma and @equatorcoffees
@johnnydoughnuts, you’re killin it.
