Probably the best kept secret in Iowa City. I can't believe we waited this long to try Hot & Roll! The chicken sharwama and gyro are both very delicious. So is the chickpea salad. The flavor is a tad bit sweeter than your typical gyro pocket, but in a good way. They put this magical dressing on the greens and chick pea salad. It is sweet with maybe a mint chutney type of flavor--just very delicious. Service is very friendly as well. We drove from Cedar Rapids to come try this very delicious food. The service was beyond excellent and it was very quick. We hope to get to try everything on the menu soon. The chickpea salad was perfect with a little bit of spice to it. And the gyro meat was well seasoned and cooked just right. Highly recommended! Food is AMAZING!!! But the service is even better, they are so kind and welcoming. I stopped by randomly and I'm going to come back for more as much as possible. I just got a gyro combo for lunch here and it is very tasty. The meat is seasoned well but also I was happy with the amount of fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion. It had a very fresh feel, not too heavy. The tzatziki type sauce is good, but further down there is some other really amazing sauce which may be mango based or something. I went with my son because I had heard that this place was good. We arrived, looked at the menu and ordered chicken shawarma, a gyro sandwich and mixed kabob. I don't know if it was because the counter guy heard me talking about the lack of cleanliness in the kitchen or what but my chicken shawrarma was a tortilla with pieces of dry chicken and nothing else. Saw the perfect 5 star reviews and got intrigued, have to say it’s MORE than deserved. The fries were perfectly crispy and the special sauce was great. The tzatziki sauce was the best I’ve ever had, actually killer. All in all the food was bussin, the prices are reasonable, and Ali is that guy, super nice. Go here ASAP !!
