We stopped in Sunday for some lunch but the main restaurant part was completely full so we had to go back outside and go sit on the other side that was “kid friendly“. Pretty uncomfortable tables and chairs and food was just average I thought. Waitresses were nice but a very weird atmosphere. If you go I recommend sitting in the main part and not the little “kiddies room“! Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

No frills, unassuming burger joint & bar. They essentially just just have burgers on their menu but they know how to them well. They also serve a wide variety of local Oregon beers. The location may be a little bit out off the beaten path for most… but that’s what helps the Helvetia Tavern preserve its neighborhood charm. We went as a group with 3 adults and 4 kids. Everyone loved the food. Service was spot on too. I ordered a large fry for the table and they were super tasty. Some of the best fries I’ve ever had. We also got their house fry dipping sauce called “goop” and it was good too. I had to try the jumbo cheeseburger. I really liked it. It’s hard to describe but imagine if McDonald’s wasn’t garbage. It has a similar taste to what McDonald’s would want to be like if they weren’t cheap fast food. The bun was super good and soft. There were two patties kinda offset from each other to fill in the large bun but every bite had meat in it. It seemed like they had their special sauce on it too. Mine had grilled onions that were delicious. The bill for the whole group was like $90 so just about $12 a person which is really really good for the amount of food and quality of the meal. If you come to Hillsboro, I definitely recommend this restaurant. The best hamburger shop that appears in a farm area. The jumbo burger is quite large. It's a great place for burgers and beer. The frys and onion rings are really good as well. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. I really like the outdoor seating area. Be sure to bring cash as they do not take credit cards. There is an ATM inside the bar. For what is worth just order the burger no more. Not sure why they give you chips instead of fries with the burger? I had to order separate fries. Talking about the fries 🤢 which you can see from the pictures it was overcooked (over fried) not eatable. No one comes asking how was the food I had to go inside to ask one of the waitresses to come and check the over cooked fries after I finished eating. Surprisingly I have told that I need to tell the waitress that I need just normal fries🙂 (not the default over cooked not eatable fries). So, I had to pay for the fries to throw it out for the bird. I was so excited but I came back disappointed with bad experience. The burger was cold and the onion rings were okay. For the service the first waitress was okay even though I asked for sauces and did not receive what I asked for. Sorry I am just sharing my experience. I was expecting a little more from a country restaurant with very high rates (highly recommended). A really nice place for a good burger. We had tried it some years ago on a trip to OR and my daughter loved the burgers and wanted to go back. Still a good burger and fries! I had the Cobb salad (No blue cheese). It was ok but nothing to write home about. The avocado wasn't exactly ripe but being from CA maybe I'm just spoiled with my good avocados. A beautiful outdoor area with lots of seating and the weather was perfect. These are regular burgers, but the jumbo is awesome too!
