A few months ago I went to dine in at this restaurant. I had the Buffalo Chicken wraps and French fries which were pretty delicious. However, just looking at the menu I was not expecting there to be lettuce or tomato but other then that I enjoyed the meal very much. The service was wonderful and I feel like this would be a nice place to hang out and eat at with friends. But I didn't think the portions were good for the price I paid for the food. That is the reason why I'm giving this four stars instead of five. I would eat here again if I was in the area. In my opinion this along with any of the locations of Governor’s is a must visit at least once. Could be considered an iconic restaurant to many people from Maine. I have gone to a number of their locations from childhood to adulthood so brings back memories for me. Especially the locations that still have a train that travels around the upper outskirts of the dining area. The food arguable may not be the most blowing or something you’d think is the best ever. This is a great spot to come with friends or family though for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have always enjoyed coming in here for breakfast, especially back in my college days on the weekend with a bunch of friends. Can’t go wrong with governors big breakfast! You get good portions for a good price with friendly staff. This place can get very busy depending on the time you come so you may have a wait. Don’t forget to grab a pastry or slice of pie/cake on your way out, it’s tough to miss when you have to walk by them all.

I had the breakfast buffet, and the food was delicious. There were so many options I couldn't get to them all before I was full. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. We have always loved Governors! Good old-fashioned comfort food. Turkey dinner, meatloaf, fisherman’s platter, yummy soups and chowders. A great bakery serving their famous whoopie pies, homemade rolls and cakes, pies and brownies. We would stop here on our road trips between PEI, Canada and NJ, until COVID cut back on these road trips. We rectified that tonight. My husband ordered a club sandwich and I ordered their broccoli cheddar soup. Yum!!! Stop by. Try everything! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

Great comfort food and as always, our trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Governor’s Restaurant and Bakery! Check out their daily specials and don’t be afraid to try the lobster roll, you won’t be disappointed. Bring the kids, they will love watching the train makes its way around the restaurant. Very nice restaurant. Staff was excellent. My husband enjoyed his lobster roll and it was his first time trying lobster bisque and he loved it. Said it was the perfect temperature. I had the hot turkey, dressing and fries with gravy. It was good. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. We would return if ever in the area again. The food was great, and the service was awesome. We ordered off the menu, but they have a breakfast buffet every weekend that we wish we had looked at before ordering. It was fresh, and there were plenty of choices. We will be going back soon to try the buffet. Governor's is simply delicious. If you are going for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just stopping by for an out of this world sized dessert. Their fried pickles are better than any place I have been to in North Carolina, and that's saying something! I have personally seen the "Federal Deficit" and just know you should bring lots of people with you if you choose to dive into it! What am I eating, so good, so happy, so delicious, the New England pot roast, is beef heaven, the cheese sticks are awesome, they are huge, and delicious, the hot chocolate is so good, is not a cheep tasting chocolate, no no no, it is good chocolate. I came to Maine for work, I have eaten in so many places, but I think I found the jewel of Maine with out a doubt. The meatloaf, the beef, the mash potatoes, cheese sticks, is overwhelming.
