Hidden little gem with great pantry staples, local beer, local hard cider, and really good food. Try the griddled banana bread. So good!

Breakfast Sandwich
Stopped by for a quick snack off the Taconic, but the spot's charm and Craig's welcoming kitchen vibe convinced us to stay for breakfast. It's like being at home with Craig flipping up breakfast and burgers while chatting with the locals at the counter.
A variety of cold and hot beverages, snacks, chips, and cheeses - you won't leave hungry. It's more than just breakfast; it's a heartfelt embrace plated with care.
Special shoutout to Craig for those incredible chips! A must-visit if you're passing through – until next time, old Brooklyn neighbor!

Breakfast Sandwich
Sweet family run short- order greasy spoon nestled in a rural market stocked with pantry essentials and regional sundries. The coffee was tasty and hot and they let us hole up for a couple hours. So grateful to have a place to hang on a cold winters day!

Breakfast Sandwich
Golden Russet Cafe is a local gem. It's located in the Schultzville area, just a short drive from the Village of Rhinebeck. It's a cafe and a general store, with many basics, plus interesting provisions for locals and visitors alike. With the largest variety of New York hard ciders in the region, ask Craig, the owner, for recommendations as he is truly a cider expert. He wrote a book on the subject and you can purchase the book there, too. On today's visit, we had an egg sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich, both of which were very good (and well-priced, too). We left with a bottle of Pear Cider and a plan to return on a sunnier day so we can enjoy eating on the cozy porch or grab some food to enjoy on a picnic hike.

Fried Chicken Sandwich & Side
Golden Russet Cafe is just a short drive from the Taconic Parkway (about two miles). It's a really nice country store with a lovely menu for breakfast and lunch. We stopped in for breakfast with the grandsons. The breakfast sandwiches were a good choice. They came fast and hot right off the griddle. We had some freshly made banana bread too. All quite tasty. The staff at Golden Russet are friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and appreciated.

Bacon Egg & Cheese Sandwich
Super well stocked local eatery with prepared foods and delicious dining options. Stopped in for egg sandwiches for breakfast. Grab some coffee and cookies as well. Everything was delicious. Plus, there’s a nice little area for kids to play in the back near the tables, so you can just chill and enjoy your food while a little ones play with the various games and toys that they have set out for them. Will definitely be back soon. We enjoyed it and look forward to trying their burgers which look delicious.

I love everything about this place. The food cooked in front of you is always great, the cider selection which is their specialty is amazing and the general store selection is well thought out.
I'm always happy to drive just a bit out of my way to get there.

Your experience at the Golden Russet will not disappoint. Craig and Jenny serve great food and lots of love to the local community. Pick up a copy of Craig’s book and a six-pack of cider while you’re there!

Sausage Egg & Cheese Sandwich
Quaint little roadside grocery/diner in the middle of the Hudson Valley. We stopped down after picking fruit at Rosehill farm. It’s great for a nice simple lunch, I.e a grilled cheese, egg sandwich, burger, turkey melt. Simple classics that always hit the spot. I’m sure their specials are also great.
The griddle banana bread was really moist and tasty. Chef does add salt to the top, which my wife liked but I pushed off.
Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Would definitely return if I was in the area. There are some local goods and beverages (alcohol too) to be head. Recommend if you are nearby!

Craig and his wife have quite the quaint little place here! Off the beaten path it feels like, inside you find a selection of cider and (cider/apple) books that rival anything you can find in a big city.
The feature a solid list of food to order to go or to eat on the patio. The burger and fries were just fantastic! If you're passing through the area, and you're a cider fan, it's a must stop!
