You can have nicely cooked grilled steaks, prime rib roast and ribs at this restaurant. A lot of guests point out that waiters offer tasty ice cream and good biscuits here. The food except for the steaks are perfect. I finally had a good steak yesterday after having a bad one. What makes a great steak, no grissel and very little fat. When you chew it you don't have to spit out the remains that you can't chew. Their steaks use to be perfect, on par with Texas Roadhouse, now more often than not the steaks leave much to be desired. Very good quality food. Some of it was not exactly lean cuts, but very good nonetheless . The salad bar was absolutely amazing, everything very fresh. There was a great variety of everything.....salad bar, hot food, desserts, all of it. Very good value for what you pay. The only bad thing is it is so good and plentiful you can definitely gain some weight while there. Ha! The only issue I had on the place is it was very crowded every day, which is not a kock, it is a very good indicator of they're doing something right, they just need more space. Went for my oldest daughter's 16th birthday. The first place we headed to was the salad bar. It looked like they were starting to put it away with so many slots empty. The Spinich looked like an herb that had been set out to dry. It was like it had been out all day long and not been touched. This was my first indication that this was not the same golden coral used to each at years ago. The site was off putting. Nevertheless, I loaded my plate with what ingredients were left and headed over to the ranch dressing. As I put it on my plate, I noticed that it looked off. The consistency was different than the typical ranch dressing you see at any restaurant. I headed back to my table and took a bite. Something was off. I took another bite. Something was definitely off. I looked through the ingredients and thought maybe it was the ham chunks. So I pulled those out and took another bite. Nope. Something was definitely wrong with the salad. How do you mess up salad??? I set the plate of salad aside for fear I would end up with food poisoning. As I tasted several other dishes, I noticed everything tasted like it had come from a box. Nothing tasted fresh. Any meat I had tried was dry or undercooked. After a less than appetizing experience I had had enough and took my leave. This is where the real experience began. Later that night, I began having severe stomach cramping and other symptoms of food poisoning. Yep, I paid 16.29 for food poisoning and had to miss the next morning of work which was another financial loss to me because of this awful place. If I could rate it 0 stars I would. We were there for a group party so our experience was a bit different than normal, but the food was good once I found what I wanted. The service was mediocre. I had to go in search of someone to fill our drinks. The room they had us in was EXTREMELY HOT! It started out with them telling us they couldn't do anything about it but our Director is relentless and they finally agreed to try to cool it down. I'd go back to give them another try so it wasn't horrible and I DO like the fact that they always have Brussel Sprouts! It was good. We can always count on a good, filling meal here. I remember them having French fries, so it was sad that I told my daughter they had them, but they weren't on the buffet that day. The food was a little stale, but they refreshed the food when the dinner rush came in. Manager/Owner assaulted a man because he had his service dog with him. The dog never made a peep or caused any ruckus, unlike the Manager. Its a shameful way to interact with a customer. The manager waited until the older guy went up to get more food from the buffet rather than going to his table and keeping it more of a private conversation. I told my family who go a couple times a month and they are now going to different venues for food. Beyond this fact the restaurant violates several health codes when handling food and beverages. The food was good but some people would take large portions sometimes finishing what was there causing a lot of wait time before they replenished the item. I've cut out sodas so I asked for some water to drink in which case my waiter only filled or offered to fill my water once while everyone drinking sodas he filled them up right away like really you can't fill up a glass of water so I got the pitcher of water myself and gave myself a refill needless to say I did NOT leave the fellow a tip not just from not filling my cup but he rarely came to collect the dirty dishes from the table. Golden Corral use to be my favorite restaurant (prepandemic). It has been a while since I went there. I wish that I could report a good review; however, the best that I can do is say that it was "average at best." The food was okay, the steak was rubbery and lacked flavor, the fish was uneatable and the rest was as I said... okay. I'm glad that I stopped by Sam's Club to buy some gift cards at a discount, because it wasn't worth the $19+ that I paid just for me. The service wasn't great either... My server only stopped by a couple of times to bring me my drink, but at least the decor was kinda cute. Out of a rating from 1-10, I'm giving Golden Corral a generous 5. Sorry folks. ------------------------------- Maybe breakfast will be better? Well folks, I went here for breakfast and guess what, I got there 4 minutes late got charged $4 extra per person and didn't even get much of a breakfast. Although they did make an exception and made me an omelette that was pretty darn good. I guess the best part of the experience was the waitress that I had waiting on me... Jackie was fabulous and so I have to say she definitely made my day. The food was okay, but the service was much much better! Out of a rating of 1 to 10, I'll give it a seven this time.
