Stopped by today for some bbq brisket, beans and Mac and cheese . Firstly, the meat was tough, tasteless and no smoke flavor at all. . This is one of the worst bbq brisket that I ever had. The bbq sauce had too much vinegar overpowering the other taste. This is Not award winning as some on here are touting. The beans was decent as well as the Mac n cheese.. 22 bucks is steep for a few strips of tough meat. Food: 1 Service: 3

Be advised that as of around 2022, gios sold and is under new ownership. We have noticed a distinctive change in quality of food since that point. Doesn't taste as good and it has increased in price substantially. I used to love their pulled pork however it seems as of recent like it was served lukewarm and had an odd taste, nothing good about it. This is a gas station but somehow the prices are about as much to go here versus a real steakhouse or established BBQ restaurant. And, the food is kind of mediocre when it comes to quality and taste. For these reasons, I can't recommend it. EDIT: Okay, thanks for the response. If the food was really good I would not mind paying top dollar prices but it just isn't, the quality isn't there. These are just facts I've gathered. I am only being honest. Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Great spot. I’ve tried it 6 years ago and the food was delicious. I stopped today again and the quality of the food is still on point. Very convenient for truck drivers doing loads from the Walmart DC, enough parking for semis. Park and have a nice meal. Take my word. Stopped in here on my drive across PA. I couldn’t have made a better choice. I ordered a grilled chicken and provolone sandwich to go. Oh my gosh, tender and juicy! Service was excellent. Atmosphere is good, just what you would expect in a small town. Great pit stop for travelers needing a quick bite and there is a gas station too to fuel up. Also should mention, I saw plates of wings and BBQ come out that looked and smelled delicious! The award winning BBQ sauce is winning. I was sure to stop to grab a bottle to take home. The baked beans are always good here, too. Their baked beans recipe is unique. I think they use at least 4 different beans, smoked meats, seasonings, and delicious sauce that comes together very well. We went Ontario, Canada for vacation and stop over to gas up. We end up eating lunch here and try out there food. Everything we got are pretty good. I love the pulled pork, brisket, and chicken wings. Highly recommended. I end up getting 3 bottles of the maple bourbon sauce. 4/5 stars in comparison to all the food options in the area, better than most. They have a convenient option of being able to order food via an online service. It made ordering food on the road a breeze. 3/5 stars for my own personal rating as I have had much better BBQ in PA. The meats we smoke at home have yet to be beat by any restaurant we have ordered from in the north. We pass by this spot from time to time and love their cheesesteak sandwich and feel it’s always a good consistent menu item to order. Cheesesteak: 5/5 Served hot, seasoned moist meat, good ratio of filling, sauce and cheese to the hoagie bun. If you don’t know what to try, get the cheesesteak and add mushrooms if you like those. ORDER THIS! The last trip here we got ribs, which weren’t memorable to us so we didn’t order those again. We also ordered the brisket and pulled pork combo with 2 sides: Mac n cheese and baked beans with corn bread. Was it bad, no, but it’s not something I enjoyed for $19. 2/5 overall, but let me better explain. Brisket: 1/5 The brisket not only lacked seasoning/flavor, but was try and was pretty fatty. I’d suspect that they cook it hot and fast, rather than low and slow. With the amount of fat on it, I would have also suspected it to be more moist, but it was not. It didn’t pull apart nice and took some effort to chew. I like flavorful brisket that’s adequately trimmed to keep some fat on to help with the cooking process. This was over cooked and dry and not on my list to order again. Pulled pork: 4/5 it was moist, not over shredded and had a nice ratio of bbq sauce to meat. I still had to sift through bites to pull out fat. Wasn’t the best I’ve had, but I would eat it again. Baked beans: 4/5 I was pleasantly shocked how much I liked the beans. I don’t often get baked beans because they are drenched in too much sugar. This was not the case, these were a nice side that didn’t make me feel like I was eating dessert and the overall flavor was good. There was a mix of maybe 3 different beans, bacon, and maybe sausage or hot dog? Not sure but it was good side dish. Mac and cheese: 1/5 there’s no shame in people eating boxed Mac n cheese but we only ever make homemade Mac and cheese and it’s better than anything I’d ever get out to eat so I know I shouldn’t bother getting it when I order out. The noodle was undercooked, had a chew to it, and had processed cheese all in it and topped on it. Tasted just like the Kraft Mac n cheese you’d buy in the box. It’s not for me and this spot could benefit from making there own with a homemade cheese sauce, it makes the world of difference. Corn bread: 3/5 it was okay. Not super moist but not dry. Also not overly sweet, but I didn’t love it. I will always give a restaurant a second chance and will order again and update my review if I feel like it should be revised. This place has potential, and is one I’d still recommend. I’d love to see their smoked meats level up a bit and I can only imagine how their business would enhance as a result. I think the food here is probably really good based on other reviews, and what I did eat. It looked amazing. The portions are generous, even with the updated menu pricing. My food, other than the fries was served cold. Not warm, but room temp. I asked for a to go container first and was given an apology when I explained it. I asked a different guy working if they usually serve cold brisket and he offered to heat it up. I would still probably come back and just chalk it up to a bad day. They had a special going on 12 wings for $10.
Traveled past Gio's many times, decided this time to stop. Place looks like a busy truck stop/gas station, but the food is really good. Diverse menu, with ribs, brisket, chicken and fried catfish on it, at reasonable prices. Plenty of seating, and the counter and kitchen staff work quickly and efficiently. Brisket was tender and tasty, although the huge size and the plentiful coleslaw topping made it messy to eat; sandwiches come with a fork & knife, to make it easier to eat. Good food. Pleasant staff. Inside a gas station. Seating area was not the best. First table had a lot of flies but it was sticky. Moved to another table and it was better. Had half a rack of barbecued ribs and baked potato. Very good. Husband had a large portion of pulled pork barbecued. Very good. Had to take a lot home.
