I saw this place was new since our last visit to town and since we love to support local businesses, I gave it a try. Staff was very friendly, so 5 stars for that. Unfortunately, the latte was just okay. If you're a fan of Starbucks or prefer your coffee drinks to not taste like coffee and be very sweet drinks, then you'll like this place. The latte was extremely weak in coffee taste. I had to go back and ask how many shots of espresso were actually in it since I tasted zero coffee. Admittedly, they use a thick mocha syrup, so it does lessen the coffee flavor with that much used. But it tasted like straight chocolate milk. The worker was nice and added more coffee to it, but it didn't really help. A large iced latte (24 oz I believe) only has 2 shots of espresso, so that's the real reason why it was such a week coffee taste.
I'll admit I'm a coffee snob and actually like the taste of coffee, even drink it black sometimes. We also live in a metropolitan area of NC with many nationally recognized coffee roasters, so we're exposed to many great local coffee shops every day. A drink of this size would have at a minimum, 3 shots. One shop we go to has 6 shots of espresso in their 24 oz (I get 4 since I don't want to have a heart attack lol). So to only have 2 shots to balance out all the syrup and milk makes this not so much a coffee drink but instead a sweetened flavored milk. My price was a little under $7 for a large iced latte. We pay less than that in our city for those higher caffeine content drinks of that size. I've found that in general, this area has underwhelming coffee drinks at a very high price and I should probably just accept that I'll be relegated to going to Dunkin nearby anytime we're in town visiting.
Update in response to their comment: I CLEARLY said I brought the issue to their attention and that their solution was to 'add more coffee' and that it didn't help. To be honest, I never even saw the espresso machine run and I was standing at the walk up window with the window open the entire time. They also didn't add more espresso later either, so I'm guessing they were using cold brew and saying it's espresso or something else that isn't an espresso made hot with freshly ground beans. That's why I asked her if she was sure she added espresso. She said she did it first. I've been to hundreds of coffee shops, one does not make 2 shots of espresso in a few seconds without ever grinding beans, pressing them and starting the machine. 🤷♀️
