Great atmosphere in this classic tavern. Everything is great here, but definitely have some focaccia bread before your meal. Take time to look at the photos on the wall, so much history here. When I lived in the Hartford area, First and Last was a regular haunt. Now that I live in the South, I find myself jonesing for the First and Last grilled sausage and peppers, served with side of shells in marinara. It rarely gets better than this, even if you find the real Italian sausage; I've been living in Charleston, a foodie paradise, but I have yet to find the real, homemade salsiccia that you get at First and Last, or buy at D&D market, close by. So mangia Hartford, and pray that this place never changes!
