I ordered a falafel bowl to go with potatoes and a side of saffron rice. Everything was put in small plastic to go bowl. When I got home the cucumbers, tomatoes, and hummus was hot. Hot hummus does not taste good. The potatoes & carrots were bland. There was liquid probably from the potatoes in the bottom of the bowl also. The saffron rice had some hard and some chewy pieces throughout. This was my first time eating at Falafel King and it was disappointing. Delicious food at affordable prices! The shawarma and gyro meats are both excellent. The sides (we sampled the potatoes, salad, tzatziki, mixed greens, and tahini) are also top-notch in quality. The saffron rice is the only exception - it’s ordinary but still good. The atmosphere is low-key and unpretentious. The guys working the till and making the food are all smiles and helpful. They’re willing to make simple substitutions to suit your taste - my friend asked for a double portion of rice instead of salad and they accommodated with no sweat.
