Luis the owner of Elmer's here in Corvallis is very generous and works with many non-profits in the area. His staff and service are very welcoming along with their food. Compliments to the chef. Knew how to cook, especially eggs over medium (last several restaurants overcooked them) However apparently everything had been sitting awhile as was just barely warm when waitress served them. Otherwise great!!!!! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I was served by Shawna. She was knowledgeable about the menu, but she wasn't the friendliest member of the staff... I don't know if she was having a rough morning, but she seemed fairly irritable. I ordered the Oregon Trail Steak and Eggs. I am diabetic, so I asked if I could get extra eggs instead of the hashbrowns. Shawna stated that they could only do one extra egg, which is fine but I would have been willing to pay extra for another. The steak was a little smaller than I would have preferred, but it was cooked to perfection. Maybe next time instead of asking for an extra egg, I'll ask for a second steak. It would be worth it. The eggs were delicious. The biscuit was light and fluffy. The dining area was very clean and homely. The restroom was serviceable, but clearly not cleaned the same standard. Most of the staff was very friendly. Overall, I would definitely recommend Elmer's and I will probably come back when I am in town. We went on Veterans Day because they offer Vets any meal from the menu, plus a drink and dessert for free! The only thing they don't give the vet for free are alcoholic beverages. Apparently, one of the cooks left early, so we were warned it might be a long wait since they only had one cook until another could get there. While the wait was longer than usual, the staff kept us informed, made sure we had our drinks, and were basically wonderful. I respect and admire this Elmer's for always giving vets a free meal on Veterans Day with no conditions or stipulations. You can even get the meal to go rather than dining in, unlike many of the other restaurants. They are the only restaurant that I know of in Benton County that will do that.
