Great "meat and potatoes" restaurant! It's a small town diner atmosphere with delicious food and big portions. Very attentive and friendly staff. Remember, if you are going wine tasting in wine country, there's not a lot of food out there on the wine trail. Lots of wine and no food equals having a big headache and being in a bad mood the whole way home. Have a big breakfast or lunch before you go. We were driving to Northern California and stopped in for a late breakfast. It was an easy on and off from highway 101. My husband and I both had danish pancakes which were amazing. Great taste, light and fluffy. I slathered mine in their homemade raspberry jam and my husband had the homemade blueberry jam on his. Wonderful! I also ordered a danish sausage and enjoyed that so much. It is a pork sausage with onions and a really tasty additional spice - maybe like cloves? Hard to describe but very yummy. Service was prompt and efficient. We were in and out in about 45 minutes although there was no feeling of being rushed at all. If you are looking for a quick, quality restaurant near the highway, by all means give Ellen’s a try! We arrived just before noon, so the breakfast crowd had mostly dispersed. My other half had the omelet, which he really enjoyed. I had two Danish pancakes, Danish sausage, and hash browns. The pancakes were tasty and light. The hash browns didn't quite taste right to me. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall, a good experience. Decent at best! I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was the oddest one yet! It was the size of a sausage patty and was a bit slimy! 🤷‍♂️ Don't order!! The gravey was good, my wife ordered bacon and she said it was good maybe stick to that? The "American pancakes" were paper thin good flavor but not enjoyable. My daughter ordered the Danish pineapple pancakes she enjoyed them but looking at her plate it was simply a crape with canned pineapple chunks not very authentic 🤦‍♂️ especially since they call themselves a "Pancake House" all in all this place is just ok and WAY over priced!!
