First timer here. I had the ham and cheese croissant and the sourdough white bread loaf. Standard pricing compared to all other French style bakeries around the country. I travel often and I love to find bakeries. This is one of the top French style bakeries I’ve found. Great service and atmosphere, excellent location, highly recommended! We have had many pastries over many visits with our coffee. Every sweet treat we've had has been amazing, especially their scones. We always get bread to bring home and especially love the cranberry wild rice. Their bread is very European, dense with a hard crust, and very delicious! This place is a local treasure and Mecca for bread lovers. My favorites which I’m sure has a cult following are the almond croissant and the flax bread. The almond croissant is always consumed en route because it never makes it home. The oh how do I love the almond croissant- let me count the ways- the combo of the crunch, and the creamy filling is a match that’s delectable. There’s almost like a buttery sugar crust from the caramelizing during baking that adds a different dimension of flavor. I love the natural sourdough breads, they have just the right amount of chewiness and the flavors are epic. It could have been the best experience if it wasn't by the lady taking our order. She wasn't nice or helpful. I felt like we were a bother... The place is ver well appointed, cozy and good sitting options. The bread, pretzels and caramel pecan roll are outstanding. I believe it's true, it's the best bread in Duluth minus the unpleasant lady behind the counter.
DBB = Overwhelming good smells and tastes. Great combo of good bread and good coffee. Can't ask for a much better morning stop. This is the Superior street location. Nice quiet shop, just up from Canal Park. Parking is on the street, you may have to walk a little. DBB has really been known for their bread, but they've added espresso drinks at this location. I just came for a cappuccino and to read for a bit and mine was good. Not fantastic. They've a small Simonelli machine which will make good espresso. Really a pleasant place to sit and hang out.
You can smell the bakery from down the street. It's nice they have a spot down town. Friendly staff. You can order coffee and other drinks if you want to have a sweet and drink. Ordered the cheese curd bread, giant croissants, danish. The bread is a good price and sweets are little more expensive but worth it.
Ooooh! So yummy! We’ve been working on eating healthier but really wanted a sweet treat, something I don’t indulge in very much. Even though I wanted a sweet treat, I ended up with the ham and cheese croissant. Wowza, delicious. Hubby had the chocolate almond croissant and a blueberry pop tart. Both equally delicious! We got a few macarons to go, I’ve never tried them before. Wasn’t a huge fan of the cherry, and the chocolate was ok. Maybe just not my thing. Overall though, definitely recommend, especially for the huge croissants. 😋

The name does not lie The staff is friendly The patty look incredible but taste even better. Don’t miss out on the almond croissant and the glazed pecan roll
So I just returned from a trip to Europe and was already mourning the lack of readily available fresh-baked goods around here, when Duluth’s Best Bread goes and opens a brand new location right near my work! This totally made my day!! I will be here often for a coffee and a croissant. Totally hooked on the pain au chocolat. The staff were so amazing and super friendly as well.
