I was pleasantly surprised with the ube (purple yam) mochi donut! I'm from Los Angeles visiting for business and the mochi donut craze has simmered down over there. The ube mochi donut here was perfectly sweet for this kind of donut, and it had a really nice mochi chew to it. For those unfamiliar with mochi, it's a rice flour, which makes the texture more chewy rather than a traditional donut. It's not a fluffy donut, so if it sits out for too long, the fried oil gets absorbed into the dough more. The one from Donutchew was still fresh enough to not have the oily texture to it. I also got a jasmine milk tea (half sugar) and really enjoyed it. Jasmine tea had a strong floral aroma/taste to it and this milk tea didn't dilute it out. If you like the taste of teas, I'd really recommend this one. Service Dine in Meal type Other Price per person $1–10 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Ube

Just loveeedd the Mochi Donuts ! This was our first time trying Mochi. They are not overly sweet! And also very light on stomach! We tried variety like mango, blueberry, strawberry ! Every flavour was just too good !! Also, the strawberry and cream croffle was so airy and tasty ! It’s a must try too ! The ambience is so cute like a little Italy cafe and all the servers are so sweet and polite.. And yes, their cappuccino is a must try too !! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
They opened 10 minutes late. They served us cold croffles. The donuts were fun but all very sweet. The fruit tea was pretty good. The employee definitely didn't seem to care very much. Not worth the trip from Frederick, but at least we know now... Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

First time trying a mochi donut here. It was okay to be honest; more chew than a traditional donut but apart from that not too much of a difference. I thought the donut was a little too sweet compared to other donuts I've tried. Same with the matcha latte we had, which was very sweet compared to others I have tried. Overall, I feel like it would taste way better if the donuts were fresh, like when Krispy Kreme makes fresh donuts. I wish they also allowed you to adjust sugar levels for beverages. The interior is very bright and welcoming with a lot of pink. There are some seats near the edge close to the wall, but not too many. Seemed a bit barren. We did come late so maybe it is akin to that, but there was only one person behind the counter, so the service was a little slow. They were also out of a ton of items, but again that's probably because we came right before the closing time. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
These donuts were amazing! Fluffy, soft and sweet. My favorite was the yogurt mochi donut. Will definitely come back for more.

Texture of the donut was very unique. I didn’t taste it immediately to see if it was warm. When I did eat it, it was very light and chewy with a firm texture at the bite. Interested to try their waffles and cakes
The ordering system software is terrible. Also they need more than one kiosk. This causes major delays and was quite annoying. The bubble tea was just okay. The earl grey mochi doughnut was also just okay. It didn't taste like mochi and it had a very doughy texture. The decor was nice but the place wasn't very clean when we were there. Floors were not swept etc.

Donut Chew is an excellent destination for those with a sweet tooth. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with a beautiful and whimsical interior that immediately lifts your mood. The decor is charming, with pastel colors and playful accents that make it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a treat. One of the standout features of Donut Chew is the variety of drinks and desserts on offer. From coffee and bubble tea to donuts and macaroons, there's something for everyone here. But what really sets Donut Chew apart is the Croffle. This delectable combination of croissant and waffle is the perfect indulgence, and it's a must-try for anyone who visits. But the star of the show has to be the crème brulee. The perfect combination of crispy and creamy, this dessert is absolutely divine. The melted cream just melts in your mouth, and the sugary top layer provides the perfect crunch. It's the kind of dessert that you'll be thinking about for days afterwards. The service at Donut Chew is also top-notch. Despite the busy crowds, the staff works quickly and efficiently to ensure that customers are served in a timely manner. The music played in the background is also enjoyable, and it adds to the already pleasant atmosphere. Donut Chew is a fantastic place to go for a sweet treat. The charming decor, great atmosphere, and variety of delicious desserts and drinks make it a must-visit destination. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and indulgent experience!

I had never tried a mochi donut (a donut made with rice flour instead of wheat flour) butvi was curious to taste them, so I walked by this shop and went in. Donut Chew is a franchise that was started in Virginia, and this particular store is located at the Rio Complex 8n Gaithersburg, MD. The shop is tastefully decorated with wreaths of roses and lemonade colors. The various mochi donut favors (with pictures) are prominently displayed. I chose the churro-flavored donut and it was delicious. It has a pleasant chew, but not as much as traditional mochi. Like most Asian deserts, it was not overly sweet, with a light covering of cinnamon sugar. I also had a latte, which was also very good. The service was excellent, very friendly.

DonutChew opened this past week at RIO. Stopped by to check it out and got Matcha and Earl Grey donuts. They were tasty. Could definitely taste the matcha. Earl Grey tasted more like honey. I think my niece still has some weird taste buds from covid and says they both just tasted sweet to her. They've got a bunch of mochi donut flavors. They've got croffles too. And they had macarons in the case at the front counter. A handful of tables indoors for seating. The seats against the wall have the flowers and mirrors. Didn't sample the milk/bubble tea cause we were heading to KFT on the other end of RIO, but will probably get coffee next visit. The shop is cute. They took over the Starbucks space so there's lots of room!
