Cajun and Creole cuisines are recommended to try at this restaurant. Here you will be offered good rich gumbo, fried chicken and fried catfish. Tasting tasty bread pudding, pancakes and peach cobbler is what most clients advise. Don't miss the opportunity to order delicious liqueur. After a long working day, you can taste great ice tea. The success of Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop would be impossible without the competent staff. Enjoyable service is something visitors appreciate here. According to the reviewers' opinions, prices are democratic. It's usually a good idea to experience something new and enjoy the charming ambiance. Google users awarded this place 4.

A friend and I visited this location in Lansing and we both ordered catfish filled, when I got my order there were bones in the fish. the manager came over and told me that they get their fillets from a different source therefore they are not responsible for the bones being in the fish. She removed my fish from the table but didn't offer to replace with something else. She did remove it from the bill but there was a $10. Mistake on the bill to their advantage. The owner/manager did not handle my situation very well at all. I don't suggest it to Go to this restuarant and Please check your bill.😒😒😒 Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

They set a bad atmosphere upon the "rule" lecture when you walk in. It's not what was said as much as how it was said. You don't scold customers. Mandating tips is unacceptable. I usually give a minimum 15% for basic service. 20% for a little effort and 25% for excellent. Being mandated to pay 18% is insane. Paying extra to pay with a card is nuts. No refunds? Ugh. I have never requested a refund when dining out, but telling me that I just have to accept what you present no matter what? Not cool. I'm kinda feeling there's some stereotype discrimination going on here. Up the menu prices, pay your employees a livable wage and announce tipping extra is appreciated but, not necessary. Then the server is motivated knowing they receive a consistent salary and if they're really good at their job, might get a bonus via tipping. We decided to order a pick up order from there instead. Food was disappointing but, at least I didn't have to pay 18% on top of the mediocre food. Food is not at all the same as when they were in Hyde Park. Quantity being scaled back is understandable. Quality should not suffer though. What's up with the peach cobbler? I can throw canned peaches and a flour concoction together at home. Fried tomatoes were so thin they'd be better off not offering them. Very disappointing overall. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

4/2022: First time trying it. I was concerned with the recent reviews being so mixed but the wait was not bad (take-out) and the food was good. I am really critical of food so prepared myself for disappointment. Lol The fried green tomatoes were so good that I forgot to take a picture until I was at the last one. The baked Mac n cheese was really good. Another review mentioned an odd flavor to it. That flavor is smoked cheddar. When I make it, I usually make a regular pan and a pan with some smoked cheddar. It is great but not for everyone, very strong and rich. I also had the smothered pork chops with mashed potatoes. I prefer mine fried but this baked chop was good too. The gravy was very good. Other people in my house got the jerk catfish and seafood pasta (Alfredo I think) and they loved it. They both also got the gumbo and said it was amazing. Updated 7/17/22: Decided to go in and eat. 30 minute wait on a Sunday so not bad at all. Our party had Jerk Chicken, Red Beans & Rice, Alfredo and loved them. I had the fried Catfish, greens, Mac n cheese, and Fried Green Tomatoes (again). Tomatoes were amazing again. Also ordered a Whiskey Sour. (They have a FULL bar). The drink was superb. They made a Boston Sour but I love those too and it was great. Exceptional service, pricing, and bartending. Will definitely be back. Update 1/21/24: I've been back many many times and get pickup orders at least once a week. The consistency of the food is phenomenal. It has stayed great. Today I finally tried the burger with the fried green tomatoes and fried jalapeños on it. Really really good. I don't usually eat burgers but will be buying it again. Recommended dishes Catfish Fillet with 2 Sides and Fried Green Tomatoes
I had the blackened catfish, with mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens. The fish was cooked to perfection. The greens could have used a little more seasoning. The service was phenomenal from the busboy to the waiter both were extremely professional. The value for what I ordered was good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Not a fan of their "policies". It takes the joy out of the experience. They take the joy out of tipping by adding 18% gratuity AND make you pay for the credit card fees that should really be taken on by the company. You only get 2 johnny cakes per person (and trust me they count them). Finally, they charge you to share your food. If I want to share my food, who are you to tell me that I can't? It's my money and when purchased it is my food. Other than those things, the food is good and the servers are nice and attentive. It's usually clean and has a quiet atmosphere.
