Excellente! We want to come back soon! And bring our amigos. Tasty Spanish food. Having lived in Spain awhile back I am always looking for a reminder of times past. This place hit the spot. Lovely ambiance. Nice music. Super friendly service. Menu is very comprehensive. So many choices. We ordered the seafood paella which was perfectly cooked and enough for two though i would have liked a bit more seafood in this dish. Albondigas (meatballs) were fabulous. The accompanying sauce was flavorful. The ham croquetas were good. The flan was THE BEST i have ever had. So creamy. And the caramel sauce was a delicious kiss. Thumbs up! Will come again with friends in tow. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What a pleasant surprise! I'm a fan of finding the best Spanish food - at a Michelin level - when traveling. Destapas takes the crown in San Francisco! The friendly, unpretentious, neighborhood spot will "wow" anyone familiar with authentic tapas. The croquetas are bold and very crunchy. The octopus has a crispy sear, but is still tender and nicely paired with saucy potatoes - possibly the best I've encountered. Bellota jamon iberico was nutty and sweet atop pan con tomate. Basque burnt cheesecake had the right airiness to char balance. Sure, there's a couple other "fancier" places (Belotta and Coqueta come to mind), but Destapas is the real deal with an upscale-casual vibe.
