Got off the highway while traveling and found a awesome little hole in the wall! If we're ever in this part of the state again, we'll definitely be back. The tater tots here are wonderful, as are the biscuits! I enjoyed my whole breakfast, as did my friends. The buffet option was tempting but we opted for menu items instead. The food is not that good. The potatoes are instant and bland. The rolls are stale and the banana pudding consists of vanilla pudding, old bananas and no wafers. I could have bought a vanilla pudding at the grocery store and it would have been better. The meats are tough and corn and green beans are straight out the can. It was Sunday and after a long night of slamming alcohol in my face I thought I’d try to find a good place to put a heavy meal on my stomach. Cousin Gary’s was the closest buffet to me so I decided to go there. This was a terrible mistake. The reviews about this place aren’t lying, the food is god awful. It’s bland, cold, and soggy. As a black man I was looking forward to tearing the fried chicken up but could only stomach a couple bites. The salad was surprisingly fresh though and the service was top tier but I cannot stress enough how poor the quality of food was. Maybe it was a bad day. Our waitress was pleasant enough. We had fried chicken (was hot), fried squash (room temperature), macaroni (was ok, not truly warm but not quiet room temp), and the mashed potatoes were cold (after letting the waitress know, she took it upon herself--to take the dish of mashed potatoes to the back and put them in the microwave. First off that is a HUGE NO-NO. Even when they were brought back out, the dish was slightly warm but not the potatoes.) Half way through the meal still missing the biscuits we were told sorry we're out and brought rolls (mind you Half way through meal) and No refill on tea (never even an offer for more). Don't think we'll be back. I can not in good conscience recommend. Maybe it was newly staffed or something. Ps...Gordon Ramsey would've ripped this place a new one for taking food from the table back into the kitchen without it going straight into the trash. I've worked in the restaurant industry in the past, I knew this was a no-no and was in awe at seeing they were the same potatoes removed from the table. Needless to say the bowl of mashed potatoes was left uneaten. If you do try Cousin Gary's I hope you have a much better experience. "If you leave hungry, it's your own fault." - our great waitstaff. It's a buffet style diner with a drive- thru. The meat options were particularly good... especially that fried catfish! The salad bar and vegetable sides were not great. Overall, it's a safe bet for a cheap, fast, home-cooked meal :) Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Very friendly country home cooking type of food! You kinda have to like this type of comfort food imo! I grew up on a lot of this style food and “help your self”/ buffet type and it is pretty good here! I love the burgers and potato wedges best! They give me the taste of nostalgia if that makes sense! Big open room with a side buffet area on some days… lots of choices too! They also have a drive thru! Only complaints are it could look a bit nicer inside for atmosphere and some food can be cold.
