Was able to get an early reservation for a Saturday. We visited with another family who recommended the Coal Chute. Parking was easy. Park anywhere in front or side of what looked to be a converted house to restaurant. Service was good and attentive. We were seated in the front dining area and it was too noisy even at capacity. Food didn’t take as long as expected since we’re expecting to wait since that was what the other reviews stated. It was nice that they had a kids menu. The food was good. Fresh and hot. Only negatives were a fry burger probably due to being part buffalo and slightly on the pricey side for being in Roslyn. We did end up with a lot of fries since everything came with them. I did appreciate the option of show string fries and thick fries and being able to sub for salad, soup, or sweet potato fries. I’d recommend the thick fries. Overall, it was a nice meal with friends and service was always there when you needed. We had 6:30pm reservations. Got seated right away but waited a bit to get drink order and appetizer taken. Asked for more water never got it. Had to ask someone else for water. It took an hour to get our appetizers and our dinners arrived 15 minutes later. In that time only saw our server once. Took our server 3 times to get our tickets correct. For a mandatory 20% gratuity I expect better service. She did not earn her money from us tonight. If you are going to charge 20% tip please work for it. We had a reservation for six thirty and got our food at seven thirty five. And that was with a two year old. There were nine of us so the waitress added a twenty percent tip. I was pretty surprised considering our wait time. The food was just ok, the service was terrible. Not going back. So mean reply from the owner. Nothing she said is true except that I did make two reviews. Would have been nice if someone could have said “sorry for your wait. How about we buy you a glass of wine. “. Or they could have NOT charged me a $50 dollar tip. And if anyone would have told me it was an hour wait, why would I have gone there? I left a rough review here in the past even stated I would never go back. However I was talked into returning by a friend....the same friend I had had the terrible experience with in the first place. I'm glad he talked me into it.
