We loved the chicken fried steak (amazing gravy, actual steak perfectly cooked) and cold shiner at this charming cafe! Upgrading the nachos to fajita meat was definitely worthwhile. It was the perfect post hike meal. The server was a gem and we will definitely return on future trips. Fast service. Tasty Mexican food. Tamales were wrapped in corn husks and salsa was fresh made. Prices were higher than I expected — our family ate more cheaply on the San Antonio riverfront. Not bad pricing, just about $5 a plate more than I expected. Building doesn’t exist for atmosphere, just solid little place to grab a bite. Seems to be where all of the locals go. The pork red chili plate and the empanadas plate are both great choices! The pork is really tender, and the chili sauce is delicious. The service is fast and friendly and the decor is simple. The view of the mountains from the parking lit is breathtaking. Oh! And the queso with chilis in it is super!
