Cute space with fabulous food. Parking in the lot is a short distance from the door, and there's seating indoors and outdoors, making this a great space to enjoy the weather or avoid it! There really are not that many legitimately good Mexican restaurants in South Florida. This place is definitely one of the few good spots. The service and decor are very well done. The friendly family feel is so refreshing in SoFla. Where they shine and where it counts is in the food. A great variety of salsas kicks everything up a notch. The carne asada, Pollo asado, their beans, tortillas are all wonderful. Man, their tequilas are off the wall tasty. Great place. Must visit. I am disappointed to have to write a bad review because I love the food at Casa Maya and most of the employees are super nice. However I had a very bad experience with their take out/catering service. I ordered for 12 people for a holiday party. When I placed the order, the manager recommended that I just do individual dishes instead of their taco stations because we also wanted shrimp. I made it clear that I wanted lettuce, tomato, & cheese for the tacos and she said it would not be a problem. She did not mention any charge for the toppings. We also ordered Guac & Chips and she said the chips came with the Guac so we didn't need to order them separately. When I picked up the order, there was a separate charge of $47.60 for the lettuce, tomato, & cheese and also a separate charge of $16.95 for chips (in addition to the $21.95 charge for the Guac). I told the manager (different person) what was discussed and he said that the other manager was not there so there was nothing he could do. I had to get to the party so was forced to pay the ridiculous $65 for lettuce, tomato, cheese and chips. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. Food was outrageously expensive for the portions and quality that they offer. I asked for a cup of sour cream and instead got a dollop of whipped sour cream. Never in my life have I seen such a thing. I even thought for a second I was being punked. Always great food and good times. Had the octopus, and it was delicious! We tried the elote, it was also very good. The ceviche was just right, and the saled was amazing also. Whenever we are in the area, we always stop in. They sang happy birthday for someone in our party, thank you!
