We came to the area to visit the winter market at Muidenport but the food stalls had long lines, so ended up walking into town and found this restaurant to grab a bite at. Two of us decided on a dish called “Winterkabeljouw” which was amazingly delicious! It was cod (beautifully cooked) with a piece of pot lard on a bed of mashed potatoes and leek. The asparagus was crisp and tasted like spring, and a great taste element was also provided by the sun-dried tomatoes. Just was among the best plates I’ve had while living in Amsterdam! My brother got the Chicken club sandwich and raved about the bacon that was included in this dish. We also got desserts - Creme Brûlée, Apple Pie and Apple Strudle, which was a great way to close off the meal! The cookie ice-cream with Creme Brûlée was super good! Totally recommend and hope can come back on a Tuesday dinner for the fish and chips special! Great place, great food and great location. I can definitely recommend it, although I don't want it to be too crowded. I liked the homemade ravioli. Loved lunch. Food, service, value, and atmosphere all came together. Highlights included the onion soup, and the meat ball, but everything we ordered was very good. Their big patio has a front row seat to watch the boats pass through the rotating bridge. We did a lunch break at this place that looks awesome. You can tell the place that its been there for a while. Great location, which is close by the castle Muiderslot. Coffee / hot cocoa was great. We had the two tostis. One was ham and cheese while the other was cheese, sambal, onion and fried egg. The cheese sambal tosti was really good. The ham and cheese tosti tasted like ham and cheese. What a great little man intimate pub with delicious food and a wounderful selection of local beers. This pub sits in a town that was built in or around 953. The first known reference to Muiden is from 953 when Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor, granted the settlement and its toll rights to Cathedral of Saint Martin, Utrecht. It was called Amuda, meaning "mouth of the (river) A". "A" was the old name for the Vecht river. In 1122 Muiden was, together with Utrecht, granted some city rights by Emperor Henry V. After the lands around Muiden were given to Count Floris V, he began building Muider Castle at the mouth of the Vecht river. Muiden once again received city rights in 1296. This pub is about a 5 minute walk to Amsterdam Castle Muiderslot and totally worth a visit either before, for a delicious snack, or after for a more substantial meal. The staff is friendly and everything was great. Highly recommend!
