The mushroom appetizer is great! I ordered the BLT but didn't like the candied bacon because it was chewy and sweet. Three in our party ordered the Reuben sandwich. One loved it, and the other two said they couldn't hardly chew the corned beef because it was so tough. The service was great though. A great small tavern. Food and drinks were excellent. Loved the “Giggle Water” drink. I ordered the Turkey, Apple, Brie sandwich. It was amazing. Service was great. Even though it was packed, our server kept a smile on her face and happy no matter what. They kept people moving. Definitely will be back. Small place that's first come for a seat yourself table. We sat right away luckily. Cohen was a very attentive server. Tried the special. Also a few choices for kids' meals too which is important to us. Had the beer cheese and pretzel app...yum. Hubby enjoyed his burger and I liked my shrimp ceasar wrap. Lots of options to choose from. The place was packed but not sure why. Stopped in while driving though Hendersonville, we grabbed some seats at the bar and ordered burgers. The burgers were okay. Came out after a decent wait and they were a bit cold. Requested hot sauce to add some flavor to them. The signature smash burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had in years. I finished the whole thing which is rare but it was too good to leave any behind! The chips are perfect. I debated on asking if I could just get bags of them to go. My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich which he raved about equally. It was easily the biggest chicken sandwich either of us has ever seen. Sat down, immediate greeting with a menu and a water. Best service we got in the downtown area by far. Arrived right after it opened thankfully, because it did not take long to get packed. It's very cozy and comfortable. The service was excellent. The food was even better. The Monte Cristo is amazing. Listen, when I say they got the best food in town, I mean it. Just stopped her touring through on vacation and man oh man, the food and service was to die for. Cohen took exceptional care of us, shared some info about the area we were staying in and was able to explain anything on the menu. That first bite into the monte cristo burger, whew, just melts in your mouth. If you’re remotely close, make the trip in! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I base my reviews on the value received and the quality of the product. I love the atmosphere at Brooks Tavern. It’s an old building with oak wood everywhere and pressed tin ceiling. The menu offers a lot of great sounding plates at relatively high prices. I don’t mind paying more for exceptional food and service. Unfortunately I had below average lunch for $40 ($50 with 2 beers and tip). The Carolina Burger was large with chili, cheese and coleslaw on it. The meat was flavorless and the chili was way too salty. And although the fries looked wonderful, they were raw in the middle. We also ordered the small Fish and Chips. Again, the fish was large, but the batter was too thick and consequently the inner part of it was not cooked. Our server was prompt and attentive. This place like many these days, charge 2.5% for using a credit card. I object to that. There are so many places to spend my money, I’ll keep looking.
