Visiting Idaho falls and I’ve never had Black Bear Diner. I’ve seen a commercial for the place. Came in on Monday ( Presidents’ Day ) and had amazing service. From the host seating us, to the server taking our order and dropping off the food; to the manager checking up on us and making small talk. It all felt great and comfortable. We are visiting for about two weeks so we will def be back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I usually only have good things to say about blackbear, but tonight was another night of disappointment. Seems like if you want good service you can only come in the morning. If you come at night, you will be extremely disappointed. There can only be three people in the restaurant and they will still take almost an hour to get you your food order takeout. They are going to forget some of your food the night crew seems to be if you want good food and good service only go in the morning. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Favorite place. We have been here couple years and this was the first place we went to and Cheby has been an awesome host/server and the staff is friendly. Pancakes are my favorite and the bear claws are super yummy when warmed up. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tried to eat my birthday breakfast this morning. Host promptly seated us and two tables after us. No water or offer of a drink. We had been seated for awhile and we were waiting patiently for our turn. A server started towards us and thought for sure he was on his way to wait on us. No, he waited on a table after us. Other than the host no one else acknowledge we were even there. Not feeling like waiting for who knows how long we left. Great service and food at The Grille. We will be having breakfast there from now on. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Our first time to Black Bear Diner won’t be our last. The chicken fried steak was fork tender and the biscuits were HUGE and delicious. The restaurant was spotless, with very quick and friendly service. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Faquez was our server and did a great job he made sure that we had everything that we needed and checked in with us multiple times during our meal but not to the point where it was annoying. He also kept the restaurant running like a well-oiled machine and kept the other employees doing the things that they should be doing around the restaurant including cleaning. A much better experience this time than it was 6 months ago when we stopped in there for a meal and the restaurant was dirty and the service was horrible.
