We are visiting this place once per month. And we are in love with this place. There is only one thing that drives me mad and crazy - in the restaurant, if you want to sit outside , be ready to wait for a waitress sometimes for 30-40min. That's so crazy!
My wife and I stayed here and loved our stay. The castle is a beautiful setting overlooking a relaxing lake and in the middle of a large park with many trails to explore. We immediately felt our stress melting away. The indoor pool is great for a morning workout and the trails are perfect for a run. The restaurant was also very good with solid options for lunch/dinner- although it is the same menu for both.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful! There are plenty of things to do for the kids in the family! The service is very friendly and efficient! Very peaceful environment! The food was delicious, well prepared and beautifully plated and presented! The manor is very close to Sigulda and the Gauya national park. It is also close to the bobsled training facility and in the summer you can go down the track in sled with rubber wheels. Lots of fun!
Don't often rate accomodation as perfect and our stay at Birini Pils ticked all the boxes.||It's a well maintained grand manor house set on extensive grounds overlooking a quite large lake.||While the grounds were a bit bleak in very early spring, another month would see all the tress and flowers in full bloom and it would be picture perfect. There are extensive walking trails around the lake which would take around 45-60 minutes.||||The rooms on the first floor are of generous size, as is the bathroom. These cost an e tea 6 euro compared with the budget rooms on the second floor ( which requires hauling bags up another flight of stairs) which was a no brainer for is.||||The dinner was easily the best ( and reasonably priced) we have had in the Baltic states over two weeks of travel, and breakfast was a hot cooked to order affair plus cold selections such as cereal, yoghurt and individual cheese, meats and pate, fresh fruit||||Friendly staff and excellent sleep quality made this a truely memorable stay.||||Birini is an excellent base to visit the areas hiking trails, castles, wildlife reserves and other attractions
Very romantic and nice location, the surroundings are beautiful. Rooms are elegant, although very simple (no air conditioning, no curtains), certainly not luxurious. Rooms were located at a the third floor, with four very steep staircases to be climbed: no elevator, no one to help with the luggage. Moreover, the website advertises a swimming pool free of charge for hotel clients. This is not true as access to the pool is free from 8 to 11 am (what is the logic behjnd this?) and after thay there is a hefty 16 euro per room fee...for one hour! Finally, with the exception of one very kind young lady, the staff does not speak english.
The former aristocratic estate suvived sovjet confiscation and occupations. It is lovely renovated and has an excellent kitchen. It can cater for events, and serves larger groups without compromising on quality. ||||Highly recommended for those, who want to spent some time in a classical setting. ||||Only caveat: in some rooms the bathrooms are a bit dated regarding its interior design and the TV sets are not to the newest expectations. But the authentic and careful renovation of the palace compensates for this smaller downsite.
The Birini manor is located in a beautiful place near the lake, the territory is taken care of so that the guests can comfortably walk around, hire boats, bicycles. It is a very beautiful place especially in summer and very close to Riga - just 55 km. We had a room at the gardener's house near the manor. When there is some event in the manor, living in the gardener's house is a very good option to avoid the noise and music. The room was very comfortable, clean, the bathroom was modern and all the necessary amenities were present (including complimentary water). However, no conditioning. The breakfast was served in the cozy manor' restaurant. A la carte menu of the restaurant is very unique and peculiar, you can find meals cooked using beaver's meat, as well as a lot of other interesting dishes. The prices are above the average. During the stay the guests can freely access the manor and have a look at the interior, take photos and enjoy the atmosphere. The manor is frequently used for private events like weddings, corporate events, etc. and is indeed a must-see object in Latvia.||However, first of all, as the castle is often used for private events it is always necessary to inform the guests beforehand that during their stay there is going to be a closed private event, as then the manor and the access to the lake from the side of the manor is closed for visitors (e.g. as it was in our case because of the wedding ceremony). Therefore, for some guests, who stay just for 1 night (we were lucky to stay for 2 nights and thus accessed the manor just before the ceremony), it might be very disappointing that they do not have access to the manor itself and the summerhouse at the lake. As the manor is the pearl of this manor complex, it is highly advisable to inform the guests during reservation or at the time of checking-in about all the events that are going to be at the manor, as they could perfectly plan their stay and sightseeing. Second, the amount of soap and shampoo/gel in the bathroom might be simply bigger, as it is quite difficult to survive with 2 small pieces of each. Finally, the breakfast could be more varied, especially taking into account the abundance of local producers in the neighborhood.||
I recently stayed here with family and friends to celebrate my daughter's wedding. it was perfect from start to finish. we had a room in the castle which was fantastic and some of the group stayed in the house close by and the rooms there were lovely also. The wedding was so beautiful and the next day we had a bbq on the grounds. I would highly recommend this place, such a beautiful location and very helpful staff.
