I recently visited Awa kava bar and had a great experience. The atmosphere was chill and relaxed, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I tried a few different kava drinks and coffee. Was here a month ago and the drinks were effective and great. This time, they were so weak! Not even the slightest tingle of the tongue. And I had TWO drinks and one with a boost. What happened!? So disappointed. I feel ripped off. 😕 Price per person $20–30

First experience with Kava and this place was incredible. Judah (sp?) was behind the bar and super friendly. Fully understood my newness and explained his take on Kava. I gave home some basic tastes I was looking for and he mixed up a hot Awa Lava Latte… it was awesome. I hung out and took in the vibe scrolling through my phone nonsense. It was a super neighborly place. A few regulars came in and hung out, a couple of people with dogs. There’s a sitting area and a bar area as well as a few small tables inside. The outside patio looked good but it was not what I was looking for. They don’t mind if you bring food to eat there. There is a parking lot out back to avoid having to pay for street parking I had a muddy chai as my second drink and enjoyed the kava numbness on my tongue. Had the greatest dreams that night. Awa Kava is such a cool little spot. I stopped here with a friend on a Wednesday night and this place was surprisingly busy. This place is complete with board games, a fire pit outside, and a cool vintage-house aesthetic. We asked the kavatender what was good on the menu, and he recommended the Tongan kava with caramel flavor. The flavor was pretty bitter but had a pleasant effect. I loved the atmosphere more than my drink, but overall it was a pleasant experience. Hoping I can try one of their different menu options if I’m ever back in Flagstaff. If you like that small town feel and adorable coffee shop vibe, this place might be great for you. The owner was kind and we support this adorable kava bar. Super cozy, great place to do work on your computer or hang out with friends. They have games, including chess. If you're looking to play chess you might be able to find an opponent here. Extremely dog friendly; there's always at least one dog here (nice dogs). Nice mouth-numbing and relaxing kava from Fiji and Vanuatu. They also have coffee, kratom, and CBD. Friendly, local.
