Had a lunch here during off-peak hours. The service and restaurant are nice but the pork looked sopping wet with fat and water. This is not what it used to be. It didn't exactly melt in your mouth either, a bit tough. It was also not served hot enough and the plate became cold quickly. The place seems to need upper management to step in and return to their old formula. After that they should probably announce to the public that they have returned to their old formula. I loved the barbecue sandwich and the hush puppies with honey butter. Our waitress was super nice. My husband really liked the ribs and fried okra. I also liked the aesthetics of the place, like the tile at the bar, and the plate my food came on was really unique. Convenient location as well. We’ve been eating at 521 BBQ for years and their food used to be so good. Their pulled pork used to be my favorite in the Charlotte area, but now it’s fatty and greasy. The ribs are very fatty as well. I believe the ownership changed recently and it’s definitely not the same. The hush puppies were a little dry and one actually had a hair baked into it.
